Heating Wars: Is It a Boiler or a Furnace? Let's Find Out!

Find out if you have a boiler or furnace

The age-old battle of the home heating titans – boiler vs. furnace! If you are looking at your heating system, scratching your head, trying to figure out if you have a boiler or a furnace, fear not! We're here to help you out. With a dash of humor and a sprinkle of warmth (pun intended).

In one corner, we have the boiler – the unsung hero of home heating. It's like that quiet, reliable friend who's always there when you need them, but you often forget they exist. Boilers use a fuel source to heat fluid (water) which heats your home. They rely on pipes and radiators to distribute that warm goodness through your home. If you see radiators within your home rather than duct vents, boilers win this round!

A boiler can also heat you up in more ways than one! They can provide you with a warm steamy shower at the end of the day. Or treat your clothes to a spa like wash cycle.

And in the other corner, we have the furnace – the showstopper, the diva of the heating world. Furnaces use a fuel source such as gas, oil, or electricity to heat air. Good old-fashioned hot air, like a warm breeze on a tropical vacation. They push hot air through ducts and vents to keep your home toasty. Do you have vents either on the floor or in the baseboard? Or perhaps overhead in the ceiling? If yes, the winner of this round is the furnace!

So next time your Boiler..er.. Furnace is on the fritz, take a peak around your home to see what you have. Your local HVAC company will thank you and be able to have you warm and cozy again in no time!
