Keep the Heat In!

If you have a drafty home, your system will have to work harder to keep up, reducing the efficiency it is designed to have! Perhaps replacing old windows, doors, or whole home insulation isn’t in the budget. Here is a list of things to do that won’t break the bank:

  • Make sure windows are closed and in locked position, creating the tightest seal possible

  • Caulk around window sill to seal any drafts

  • Apply weather-stripping to doors and windows

  • Allow the sun to do its work during the day

  • Close blinds, curtains, and drapes at night to keep heat in

  • Upgrade to thermal lined curtains or drapes

  • Heat rises! Add insulated cap to attic entrances to keep heat from escaping

  • Did we mention heat rises? Turn your ceiling fan to clockwise and put it on the lowest setting to gently move the warm air back down
